Green Public & Healthcare Organisation of the Year

This award celebrates public-sector organisations—including councils, government departments, public service entities with 25 or more full-time employees, and healthcare facilities of any size, whether public, voluntary or private—that demonstrate an exceptional commitment to integrating environmental sustainability into their operations and services while optimising patient or service-user outcomes. Entrants should highlight innovative solutions and green practices that exceed sector expectations, explain achievements to date—particularly over the last 12 months—and outline future ambitions, supported by an overall strategy, clear targets, implementation plans, measurable outcomes and robust year-on-year statistics. Entry is by a 5-page A4 PDF submission; the judges will be looking for a clear plan and evidence that it is delivering on core objectives, paying particular attention to the criteria listed below.

• Organisation Background: Outline your organisation’s size, structure, services, and key environmental challenges.
• Sustainability Strategy and Targets: Summarise your sustainability strategy, measurable targets, and how these support your organisation’s services, communities, or patients.
• Organisational Commitment and Integration: Explain how sustainability is embedded in daily operations through leadership, staff involvement, training, communication, and resources.
• Innovation and Implementation: Describe the innovative practices, technologies, or partnerships introduced and how they go beyond standard sector practice.
• Outcomes & Results: Provide measurable results, including year-on-year comparisons, and demonstrate environmental, operational, community, or patient benefits
• Stakeholder Engagement and Future Sustainability Goals: Explain how stakeholders are involved in your sustainability efforts and outline your future goals and planned improvements.
